Summary/Abstract: In the Polish singing tradition, there are several songs, hymns and little songs dedicated to St. Jude Thaddeus. The analysis of selected texts was allowed to outline the figure of this Apostle, functioning in the consciousness of the Polish Catholic community at the turn of the 20th and 21st centuries. Jude Thaddeus is a gentle and zealous apostle. Jesus Christ chose him as his messenger, trusted him and commissioned God’s preaching with power and miracles. Jude Thaddeus zealously proclaimed Jesus the Lord, His Gospel and healed the sick. He is venerated together with Simon the Zealot. Together, these two apostles bravely converted the people to God. They sealed their testimony with death, they enjoy an eternal reward in heaven and receive glory from the whole Church. Jude Thaddeus is a Saint Martyr who participates in the sufferings and glory of Christ. As a cousin of Jesus, he is an effective advocate before the holy throne of Jesus. Thanks to his merits, he is an effective patron in hopeless, difficult and final matters, including contemporary moral and social problems. The apostle provides spiritual support in the final struggle for eternal salvation, also at the hour of death and at God’s judgment. He is called a patron of conversion and a helper in making amends for the evil we have committed. His intercession contributes to obtaining indulgences and forgiving penalties and debts incurred. According to the tradition of Christian faith, Jude Thaddeus was beloved by the Mother of God.
