The Mediating Role of Organizational Commitment in the Effect of Psychological Capital on Institutional Reputation

Summary/Abstract: Psychological capital consists of the positive emotions an individual has. The reputation of the company will undoubtedly be important for the employee who has positive feelings towards the organization s/he works for. Organizational commitment, on the other hand, is a positive interaction that the employee has with his / her organization. The aim of the study is to investigate the mediating role of organizational commitment in the effect of psychological capital on corporate reputation. Within the framework of this general purpose, the relationships between the concepts of hope, self-efficacy, resilience and optimism, which are the sub-dimensions of psychological capital, and the sub-dimensions of corporate reputation, trust, business environment, social responsibility, innovation and leadership, awareness and proximity to the target audience were investigated. Also, the mediating effect of organizational commitment on the effect of psychological capital on corporate reputation was tested. Correlation, stepwise regression, sobel test and various tests were applied in the analysis of the data obtained. According to the results of this analysis, it was concluded that the sub-dimensions of psychological capital are effective on some sub-dimensions of corporate reputation and that organizational commitment has an intermediary role in this effect. When the literature is examined, a detailed study on whether there is a relationship between sub-dimensions of psychological capital and sub-dimensions of corporate reputation and the mediating effect of organizational commitment on this relationship has not been conducted in previous studies. Survey method was used as data collection tool and collected data were analysed using IBM SPSS 22 statistical package program.
