Summary/Abstract: The Zazas are one of the historical communities of Anatolia. Although the majority of the Zazas live in the eastern Anatolia, they have started to be visible today with population of several million who have migrated to various countries in Europe and largest city of Turkey's. The most distinctive feature of the Zazas is their language, called Zazakî. They have transmitted their language and culture to the geography they have lived for centuries. The Zazas, which remained as negligible community until the 19th century, was recognized by the world outside themselves, with the influence of modernism, the spread of transportation networks, the development of communication tools and the transformation of urbanization into the dominant lifestyle. The Zazas' desire to know and define themselves has been an engaging subject for a time. Despite this curiosity, the history of the Zazas and their cultural past that continues until today are not known. In this study, it is focused on how and through which sources the history of Zazas, which has not been written in a holistic way and systematic until now, can be written with scientific methods. Thus, it was aimed to draw a theoretical and empirical Zaza historiographical map on the axis of contemporary developments in scholarship.
