CONSTRUCTION OF TELEGRAPHIC LINES IN MACEDONIA DURING THE TIME OF ABDULHAMID II: THE DEBAR - RECALAR LINE (ZIROVNICA)

Summary/Abstract: The 19th century is a period when the Ottoman State tried to conserve and secure its lands. Ottoman administration should be planned to avoid security problems by generalizing the telegram network. It is obvious that the fast and secured communication is very important in the Balkans due to schismatical movement. Like Rekalar district, some areas had difficult nature conditions and this proved the need of telegram system. In this context we are going to try to considerate process of linking of the telegram line between Rekalar district, which stands at the farthest corner of the Manastır Province and Debre-i Bala the sanjak center.
