Crisis Communication in the Management of School Institutions in Bulgaria

Summary/Abstract: Today, the expression "crisis communication" is used to describe an organization in crisis and its need to communicate, in this situation, with key groups and communities. People often ratean organization that has fallen into a crisis in terms of reactions and management's response during a crisis. This publication introduce a pilot study of the attitudes of principals and other management and pedagogical staff regarding their communication skills for crisis management and the application of pedagogical communication techniques in school crisis management. Crisis communication skills, opportunities for training in the field of crisis communication and personnel issues are considered. Normative regulations in our country in relation to school crisis communication - national policies, standards and procedures - are analyzed. A content analysis of the aspects of crisis communication in a school context and the level of preparedness of pedagogical specialists and school management teams for effective crisis management is performed. Possibilities for improving the skills of pedagogical specialists in the field of crisis communication of the school institution are proposed.
