Summary/Abstract: The county of Neamt benefitted from the contribution of important archaeologists, starting with Constantin Matasa to Gheorghe Dumitroaia, however the region too provided a large and valuable research scope, as the discovered artifacts are characteristic for several ages and archaeological cultures. In many researched settlements, the presence of humans in that area was proved by stratigraphic method since the Paleolithic to nowadays. The paleolithic artifacts of Poiana Ciresului, the lithic material from Ceahlau and Hasmas, specific to mesolithic, the Cucuteni ceramics, the settlements specific to the Costisa culture, the Dacian fortification and temple of Bâtca Doamnei or the Carpi settlements of Valeni and Dulcesti are renown for the old history of Romanians. In this study we reviewed the main archaeological records discovered in the county of Neamt, proving the presence of man in these realms since the ancient times, as well as a continuity of human dwelling here. Chronologically, the old history of the Neamt county is instanced since the Paleolithic until the 13thCentury
