Summary/Abstract: After the World War II, international economy was reorganized under the leadership of the USA, the country with the strongest economy in western capitalism. USA with its economic power, by providing financial assistance played in active role in the rebuilding of European economies which harmed by the war. Turkey located in the capitalist block was included in the scope of American aid. American hegemony was effective in shaping the understanding of modernization and development of countries in relation with USA in this period. American aid with its terms and reports which prepared by American experts about Turkey discuss as American hegemony tools in this article. The purpose of the study to present an analysis about reflections of American hegemony by focusing on dominant discourse on modernization and development in period between 1945-1960 in Turkey. Within that basic framework, the historical development of American hegemony with its resources and tools will be discussed in the first part of article. After that, during the Republican People’s Party (RPP) and Democratic Party (DP) governments, the American influence in modernization and development discourses will be tried to be embodied by supporting the speeches of political actors.
