Analysis of the Mamluk Source on Mongolian-Ilkhanid Political-Military Strategies

Summary/Abstract: There are many information in the Mamluk sources about the success of the Mongol invasions. Karatay al-Izzi al-Haznedari (d.708/1308)’s in his book called Târîhu Mecmû΄ı’n-Nevâdiri, we will analyze it in this sense. The mamluk Sârim Ozbak joins to the Hulâgû’s retinue during the siege of Aleppo. The author gives what he sees, hears, and his conversations with Hülâgû. This information opens behind the scenes of the success of the Mongol invasions. It has the nature to answer many questions about Mongolian war strategies. He gives important information for the battle of Ayn Calut. Obviously it contains important information that will shed light on the history of the period. In this information center we will share some of our findings on political, military and social issues.
