Summary/Abstract: The horizon oof the rule of law concept is very wide. A simplified explanation of this concept cannot be given without following its historical evolution and the debates of ideas that continue today. The rule of law has a past marked by exemplary contributions, a present marked by differences of approach that give it a place in the forefront of current debates on democracy and, equally, a future in which the evolution of the relationship between domestic and international law will mark its definition in ways we cannot yet anticipate.
