Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the problem of competition for power between representatives of the Home Army and the Government Delegation for Poland on the one side and Polish communists supported by the Kremlin which took place in Lublin at the end of July and early August 1944. The regaining of power by the local representatives of the Polish government in exile in London was to take place simultaneously with the Operation “Tempest”. Shortly after the disclosure, members of the Polish Underground State in Poland were arrested by the Soviets and transported to the USSR, where they were taken to NKVD special camps.
