Summary/Abstract: In this paper, the Systemic Functional approach to multimodal discourse analysis developed by Van Leeuwen (2006) is pursued to analyze the meaning arising out of multiple semiotic resources deployed in political photos of Time and Newsweek on Middle East events. Thirty photos meticulously were chosen. In these photos Halliday's three meta functions which was renamed by Van Leeuwen and Kress (2006) investigated. They involved studying the visual forms of semiosis such as information value, salience, social distance,The analysis reveals how semiotic meaning making resources exist in political photos of Time and News week and how they are hidden for the people who study those materials.
