Summary/Abstract: The goal of this paper is to offer a theoretical template for understanding and making sense of the interplay between religion and ethnicity in the context of conflict, with special reference to the territory defined by the European Union and its aspirant candidates. In terms of methodology, the study falls mainly within the area of theoretical analysis, although some already existing quantitative data is being used.
