Summary/Abstract: The progress of the employees, in a business organization that takes care of itscontinuous growth and development, can be realized only through an efficient systemfor managing the performance of the employees, based on the application of a trainingprocess, with special reference to the concept of mentoring. In that way, the quality ofthe work performance, the effectiveness of the work organization, as well as the workcommitment and the quality of the working life are increased.From the aspect of the above, the training process has a key role in the careerdevelopment of the employees within the business organization. More specifically, thementoring approach is promoted, as a modern way of training, based on the choice oftools and techniques in accordance with the need to acquire certain competencies inthe employee, through a formal or informal mentoring approach.In order to investigate if and to what extent the employees of a businessorganization need to attend a mentoring program so that to improve their level ofperformance an empirical research was conducted. According to the obtained results,it is seen that there is insufficient knowledge and elaboration of the concept ofmentoring, although the employees are interested in it. It is concluded that the soonerthe implementation of the mentoring program system begins, the sooner positivemeasurable results can be expected at the level of each employee.
