A Meta-Analysis of Outcomes of Trust in Leader on the Studies Conducted in Turkey

Summary/Abstract: Purpose – The main purpose of present study is to provide a meta-analytic examination of the studies on trust in leader on studies conducted in Turkey. Design/methodology/approach – To this end, the accessible publications were analyzed via CMA 3.0 statistical package. the key words on Ulakbim, Ebsco, Science Direct, Springer, Web of Science and Jstor databse as well as national Thesis Center of Council of Higher Education without any limit in year. The accessible publications were analyzed via 3.0 statistical package. Findings – 11219 individual data from 15 different studies were analyzed. At the end of the analysis, the hypotheses that there are positive relationships between trust in leader and organizational commitment, emotional commitment, normative commitment, continuance commitment were proven. The hypotheses that there are negative relationships between trust in leader and intention to leave and organizational silence were proven. It was revealed that the studies testing both hypotheses are heterogeneous, and thus their effect sizes under random effects model are strong and medium. Discussion – According to the results, a collective evaluation was made with the scope of national literature for those who will study the variable of trust in the leader. It can be accepted as important data for leaders that employees who trust their leaders bring positive results both individually and organizationally.
