Summary/Abstract: Purpose – Since the person and organization are interacting with each other, person-organization fit is of great importance in ensuring individual and organizational performance. An important variable in achieving organizational goals due to the effective and efficient work of human resource is the concept of work engagement. The purpose of this study is to examine whether the effect of person-organization fit on work engagement and whether the level of person-organization fit and work engagement differ according to some variables. Design/methodology/approach – The research was carried out by using the survey technique, which is one of the quantitative methods. In this study, which uses the relational screening model, healthy data was collected from 411 private sector employees in the service sector in Ankara. The construct validity and reliability of the scales used in the study were tested by confirmatory factor analysis (CFA), convergent validity (AVE), combination reliability (CR) and Cronbach alpha coefficients. In testing hypotheses, path analysis in the structural equation model, Independent-t test and one-way anova were used. Findings – As a result of the research, it was determined that the person-organization fit levels of the employees positively and significantly affect the vigor, dedication and absorption levels of the employees. In addition, it was found that there was a significant difference between the sexes of the employees and the level of person-organization fit and dedication, between their educational status and person-organization fit, vigor, dedication and absorption levels, and their working time and dedication and absorption levels. Discussion – In accordance with literature, it was concluded that person-organization fit is an important variable affecting work engagement. In addition, it has been determined that the demographic variable of the employees are affective on the level of person-organization fit and work engagement.
