Summary/Abstract: All international communities, especially student groups, are richer but also more eclectic, in Romania over the last two decades. The acquisition of intercultural competences is as important as the learning of Romanian language, trough the effort of social and academic immersion of new residents. Part of nonverbal communication, space and time perception contributes to set good interpersonal relationships in the new cultural environment. Ignoring the specificity and the differences of a new culture could generates some malfunctions in communication. Therefore, the present study proposes a theoretical vision of these concepts, space and time in Romanian culture, folowed by some useful activities and exercises for understanding the essential components: territoriality, social distance, personal space, private sphere, linear time, cyclic time, punctuality, delay, temporal rigidity, etc.
