Summary/Abstract: We propose to analyze the proverbs that are related to the connection between food, drink and healthy life present in the Spanish and Romanian sayings. First, we are going to classify the proverbs according to the key idea that they express. It is, of course, a conceptual correspondence, not a literal one, although sometimes the latter is also given. There are, for example, sayings related to the harmful combination of some foods (Sp. Comida fría y bebida caliente, no hacen buen vientre; Después de la leche, nada eches), or there are others that point to the therapeutic value of some foods: esp. El aceite de oliva todo mal quita. Secondly, we will analyze the similarities, but above all the differences that may exist between the sayings of the two languages. For example, if in Spanish it is pointed out the beneficial effects of water (Si agua sola es tu bebida, será más larga tu vida), in Romanian the opposite happens (Apa nu e bună nici în cizmă; Nu bea apă multă că- i face broască-n pântece). The existence of parallel proverbs is due, on the one hand, to common cultural influences (of Latin) and reciprocal, but also, on the other hand, there are proverbs that come from preexisting cultural beliefs and topics that prevail in the mentality and in the culture.
