Summary/Abstract: The text approaches the specimen Prague type cup, which is located in the old collection of the Museum of Eastern Bohemia in Hradec Králové. This type of cup is characterized by dark spots covering the entire surface of the container. The black spots are not caused by long-term residents in the country, as previously assumed, but arose during the firing of the container, where it was applied to the technological procedure called “hardening”. A cup dating to the turn of the 15th and 16th century represents one of the few imports of this type of drinking vessel in the Czech Republic.
