Summary/Abstract: Secondary education graduates constitute the source of the successful students in exams for the higher education institutions of the Faculty of Theology. Faculties of theology accept students from two sources (Imam-Hatip and Other High Schools). Therefore, there is a difference in the education level of the students in terms of theology content knowledge. The main problem of this study is how this difference is reflected in the learning process. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the difficulties encountered by the non-Imam-Hatip students of Faculty of Theology during this learning process and the strategies they utilized to overcome these problems. In order to reach the aim of the research, questionnaire / interview form is prepared in qualitative method. The study group of the research consists of 2018-2019 4th grade non- Imam-Hatip students studying at Trabzon University, Faculty of Theology. In the study, it is determined that the students in the study group does not have a basic background related to the theology courses, and they have problems in following, understanding, and learning the lesson. They receive individual efforts and outside support in solving problems. Therefore, they need additional courses besides the faculty program.
