Summary/Abstract: In this study, it is aimed to determine the ability of the studies on criticism in Turkish Language books to develop critical thinking skills in the students depending on the program. The effects of gender, age, class level, school type, education level of the mother and father on critical thinking power were examined with the relational screening model. Texts of the category of criticism in Turkish language and literature textbooks and the place of critical thinking skills in the program are discussed. The Watson-Glaser Critical Reasoning Power Scale (Form: YM) was applied to 113 secondary students who were randomly selected in Erzincan province. The SPSS package program was used in the analysis of the data. Normality test was applied to the variables of gender, age, grade level, school type, mother's and father's education status and it was observed that they did not have a normal distribution (p: ,000 < , 05). For this reason, non-parametric tests were applied. Significant differences at 95% trust level were found in the sub-dimensions of inference by gender, interpretation by class level, inference and interpretation by school type. It was found that the category of criticism was not adequately included in the textbooks and that the students did not have the targeted critical thinking skills.
