Summary/Abstract: Foreign policy is highly controversial area for the European Union (EU). For many years, the EU has tried to form an effective common policy in this area. The EU has created a foreign and security policy, albeit controversial, as a result of its efforts. In this context, the influence of the European Parliament (EP) members selected by EU citizens in this policy area is one of the questions to be asked. According to the EU’s formal documents, the EP has few formal powers to influence the EU’s foreign policy. The EP has tried to get more powers to shape the EU’s foreign policy. In spite of the fact that EU has not an operative foreign policy, the EP has engaged in influence foreign policy issues by way of EU’s foreign policy mechanisms. In this framework, the focus point is the EP’s inclination towards foreign policy issues. The article will use normative power Europe (NPE) approach and Ukraine case to analyse attitudes and actions of the EU and the EP in relation to foreign policy topics. This article will try to explain role of the EP in the EU’s relations with Ukraine through normative power approach.
