Summary/Abstract: This paper analyzes a well–known portrait of the painter Mikoláš Aleš created by Max Švabinský. The portrait could have been created thanks to the friendly connection between these artists and contains several details with a deeper meaning referring to the character of Aleš's work and personality. The multi–layered perception of the topic of „home“ is particularly noticeable here.
