Summary/Abstract: In the last months of World War II, allied aircraft were seen in the Czech skies, especially US fighter planes that later came to be known as armed reconnaissance fighters (referred to as ‘hloubkař’ in Czech). Their task was to attack various ground targets that could be used for military purposes, primarily steam trains (that’s why they were also nicknamed “boiler fighters”), cars, horse carts and last but not least airfields, thereby paralysing transport infrastructure in the enemy’s rear.
