Summary/Abstract: Antonín Zápotocký (1884–1957), one of Czechoslovakia’s presidents, was on the scene of some of this country’s historical moments for more than half a century and was also sometimes directly involved. It is therefore no wonder that his life story also includes a lot of ambiguities and rumours. The greatest question of his career is the allegation of the war crimes he allegedly committed in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp against his fellow Dutch prisoners.
