Summary/Abstract: During the early years of Turkish Rebublic, one of the forthcoming objectives of social development was to improve and to revive the education and social cultural life interbedded with education. As it was seen in most fields, the constructive attemps about this topic also reflected on the nongovermental organizations. Thus quite a lot of associations and communities were constituted all around the country. Turkish Teachers Union founded by the name of the “The Federation of Unions of Male and Female Teachers” was one of them which was centered in Ankara. The Union took its current name in the congress in 1924 and united the other Teachers Associations which were active in various parts of Anatolia. The Ertugrul Teachers Union in Bilecik was one of these departmens, acting under the same roof of Turkish Teachers Union which were founded with the aim of providing cooperation and solidarity among teachers. Ertugrul Teachers Union played on active role in the social life of Bilecik in the early Republican period and took its place in the history as a sacrificing and heartily working organisation and scholars army with the intellection of the spirit of the Republic so asto disseminate and as a result increase the level of education.
