THE ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE OF AGRICULTURE IN POLAND IN 2015- 2019

Summary/Abstract: A characteristic feature of economic development is the fact of reducing the participation of agriculture in the resources used, as well as in the generated gross value added. However, this is not related to the decreasing importance of agriculture for society. An important indicator suggesting the rank and significance of agriculture for the economy is its share in generating GDP (Gross Domestic Product). The place and role of agriculture changed in Poland's economic balance. The importance of this section for the national economy was definitely high, mainly in terms of the number of employees. However, the labour resources in the analyzed period in Polish agriculture were not fully used and, unfortunately, they were characterized by a relatively low level of average labour productivity. The share of agriculture in terms of agricultural land in the total area of the country, professionally active in agriculture, decreased, while the value of gross fixed capital formation, production investment outlays and global production increased. There was also an increase in the share of agriculture in domestic value added and exports.
