Summary/Abstract: The article introduces the conceptions of Czech which are included in Polish literature, folklore, phraseology, lexis and results of inquires. The analysis on this matter revealed the function of several Czech’s stereotype profiles, for instance ‘Czech-philistine’, ‘Czech-capitulator’. Today, the stereotype expresses the ‘Czech-Szwejk’ profile as well. It seems that the contemporary popular image of the “typical Czech” is based mainly on Czech-Polish relations in history and culture, and has quite a good reputation in Poland. Polish Czech’s national stereotype results from traditions. In general, Poles in central Poland see the Czech nation in a more positive light than Poles living in a Śląsk Cieszyński as a minority. The end of this work finishes the attempt for Czech’s profile reconstruction as a set of its basic features which depending on the point of view was breaking up into its derived variants. The aim of this article is to reveal a real Czech picture residing in Polish consciousness during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
