Summary/Abstract: In this article, the author tries to present practical aspects of granting a temporary release from a mental health hospital. The conclusions are made from the point of view of a person who works in forensic psychiatry and deals with decisions regarding the patients’ stay in the institution. The author discusses practical problems associated with the application of the Criminal Code, as well as the benefits that temporary release has for patients.
