ONLINE LEGAL EDUCATION: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES

Summary/Abstract: This study is an attempt to X-ray a year of online legal education at the Faculty of Law within the “Dimitrie Cantemir” University of Tirgu-Mures. The results we have achieved from this research could be of broad interest and go beyond the strict framework of the Faculty in which it was carried out. We believe that most of the responses we have received, both from students and professors, can be extrapolated to the whole of higher legal education in Romania. This study could also prove useful to other actors and decision-makers in education, regardless of the field or level of education in which they work. Many of the conclusions we have reached are related to general issues, such as the quality of online education, the use of electronic learning platforms, maintaining of motivation for online learning, the need for innovation in education or adapting of education to technological progress. The study also proposes several topics of reflection on the future of legal education.
