AN INVESTIGATION OF DESIGN ELEMENTS THAT AFFECT VISUALITY ON WEB PAGES AND FACULTY OF FINE ARTS PRACTICE EXAMPLE

Summary/Abstract: The effective presentation of information, service or a commercial product on websites is an important factor in achieving the purpose of the establishment of websites. One of the main elements that distinguish websites from each other is the visual design of the website, the first thing users encounter when they enter the website. An effective web interface design with the opportunities offered by the developing internet technology; It greatly affects the user's visual perception and the usability of the site. In this context, creating a visual and functional interface design of a website different from stereotyped template page designs; It can add value to the corporate identity, as well as the message, information, announcement and so on. will positively affect understanding. In this context, although the usage purposes of the websites are different, the visual designs, that is the web interface designs, have an important place for the user. Based on the above reason, in this research, it is aimed to examine the elements that make up the visual design (web interface) of websites and to prepare a sample web interface design in line with the findings. The purpose of this study is to present the elements that affect the visuality in web interface design and to configure the interface design sample prepared in this direction in a way that is compatible with both desktop and mobile devices. This research was carried out by scanning the relevant literature from general scanning models and preparing a sample web interface design according to the data obtained. In the research, it was found that the developments in internet technologies in the 21st century positively affect the visual designs of websites; It was concluded that elements such as typography, high resolution images, animations, composition and mobile compatibility significantly affect the visuality of a website. In addition, it has been concluded that when integrated with visual design principles, the web page can provide aesthetic value and a usable structure, which contributes to the production of web interface designs that lack aesthetic value, the content of the websites instead of template designs can be transferred correctly, and the visuality is effective. In addition, it has been determined that the visual design of a website should be prepared by taking mobile devices into account, as the use of mobile devices has increased significantly and users can access websites from tablet computers or mobile phones. Therefore, these results obtained in this study were tried to be applied as a suggestion in the design of the newly designed Faculty of Fine Arts website.
