Summary/Abstract: The article is understood as a voice in the discussion over the place of (texts) of culture in teaching (German as) a foreign language at academic level. Its aim is to present the issue of incorporating autobiographical literature in the glottodidactic process and to show its historical and cultural potential used in linguistic education, and in particular in shaping of broadly understood textual competences of philological students.
