Summary/Abstract: The article presents an analysis of the geopolitical importance of the decisive stage of the 1920 Polish-Soviet War. The expansion of revolutionary Russia seeking to subordinate the whole Eastern Europe and the access to Germany on the one hand, and the Polish (Piłsudski’s) attempt to create an independent power centre between Russia and Germany on the other are depicted in the light of geopolitical ideas of Halford Mackinder and his ideas of Heartland.
