Summary/Abstract: Much has already been written on the unusually interesting and in every aspect complex subject of the Dead Christ, both in our milieu and abroad. One of those to whom we owe the understanding of this problem is Viktor Nikitič Lazarev. In discussing the south Slavic influence on Russian wall paintings of the XIV century, among other things he assumed that the 'most mature variation of the composition Weep not for me, Mother', i. e. the representation of the Dead Christ with the Virgin holding him close, was created on 'Serbian ground'.
