Summary/Abstract: Undoubtedly, in the light of the reports on the atmosphere pollution caused by fossil fuels burning, there is a need to turn to the development of an alternative energy sources, also the wind power. However, wind turbines construction frequently evokes fears of local communities and is a cause of protests. The fears of the antagonists of the wind turbines comes from tendentious reports not always objectively justified. Society`s education through the proliferation of objective data, obtained from reliable scientific research certainly would serve to alleviate the unfriendly social attitudes. The article confronts arguments most frequently brought up by the wind turbines adversaries with an objective, scientific facts, undertakes an attempt to explain the reasons for local communities` reluctance to these investments and presents solutions that would allow to minimalize the unfavorable effects on people and an ecology of the working turbines, which on the whole may raise the level of citizenry environmental awareness and lower the instances of the protests.
