Summary/Abstract: Sava Chukalov is a Bulgarian writer, pedagogue, lexicographer, editor, linguist and translator. His name is little-known to the modern generation of Bulgarians, although he was an extremely educated and significant person who worked and created without expecting recognition for the time and work he invested in collecting, compiling, editing, publishing activities. Chukalov devoted thirty years to the work of publishing and republishing Russian-Bulgarian and Bulgarian-Russian dictionaries. He was a graduate of the Theological Seminary in Sofia (1911) and the Theological Academy in St. Petersburg (1916), Russia. During his studies in Russia he zealously studied Russian literature and published his first poems in Russian. In 1916 he published a collection of poems entitled “Twilight, Songs of the Heart” and became a member of the Literary Society for Young Poets and Writers “ARS”. Later he became chairman of the editorial board. Among the documents from his personal fund № 1567K, kept in the Central State Archives, is a manuscript of the story “The Cursed Home” by Princess Zinaida Konstantinovna Devlyat-Kildeeva.
