Summary/Abstract: More than seventy years ago a Counterintelligence unit was established at the Main Directorate of the Home Army (Armia Krajowa). The soldiers of this unit, designated as 993/W, risked their lives when executing traitors and Gestapo informers in the streets of occupied Warsaw, to join the fighting during the Warsaw Uprising in August and September 1944 as the Zemsta (Revenge) platoon of the Pięść (Fist) battalion of the Home Army at the barricades in the Warsaw districts of Wola, Śródmieście and Stare Miasto, and in the Kampinos forest.
