Summary/Abstract: The article deals with the conflict model of interaction between science and religion in scientific atheism. The author groups all the diversity of issues into five blocks: 1) opposition between religious and scientific worldviews; 2) persecution of scientists by the Church; 3) opposition between scientific achievements and religious dogmas; 4) religiosity of prominent scientists; and 5) secularization impact of the science on believers. The author demonstrates that atheists criticized all the other models of interaction between science and religion, except for the conflict one. The author concludes that grounding on this topic of the interaction between science and religion, we can see that the range of problems of scientific atheismhas gone far beyond of the academic study of religion. The disavowal of theology as a separate academic discipline during 20 years of Ukraine’s independence was one of the effects of Soviet propaganda of the conflict model of interaction between science and religion.
