Summary/Abstract: Music folklore constitutes an integral element of a multi-level music education. Its richness is visible not only in its music (folk songs, instrumental music), lyrics (the poetics of folk songs), but also in the abundance of connections with annual rituals and family traditions (functions and context), as well as history and politics (Cieszyn, Silesia). It shapes opinions and helps to sensitize the students to the changes of a traditional folklore in the light of cultural and social ones as well as those connected with the influence of the mass media and culture in today’s world.
