Summary/Abstract: A well-organized system of institutions is a very important factor influencing the normal functioning of the agricultural sector in Poland. Institutionalization had particular importance in the last years in Poland, i.e. during the transition period. It was the stage of preparation of our country for accession to the European Union. This required building or modernization of institutions (law, markets, and organizations) witch regulate the Polish economic activity on domestic and international market, especially in the agricultural sector. The aim of this process was to increase the effectiveness and competitiveness of Polish agricultural sector and to improve its absorption ability in the framework of the Common Agricultural Policy. Well-developed institutions strengthen the economic position of the EU members on the international stage.
