Summary/Abstract: In connection with the 25th anniversary of the collapse of communism in the Czechoslovak Republic the debate on the nature of the communist regime was opened once again. Nowadays it is more than symptomatic that some people distort and trivialize many aspects, whether consciously or unconsciously. The role of the State Security (StB) in the structure of the totalitarian state is one of them.
