Comparing the assertions of actress Jitka Frantová with Security Service Archive documents

Summary/Abstract: In the middle of October 2015 the website Aktuálně.cz reported that the actress Jitka Frantová Pelikánová, who was to receive a state honour from President Zeman, had, according to StB Archive documents, collaborated in the 1960s with the StB secret police, making use of her contacts on the theatre scene and trips abroad. Frantová subsequently provided a statement to Právo and Novinky.cz in which she declared that the reports were StBmen’s fairytales and denied reporting on colleagues, because for instance she had never in her life seen Jan Werich. She did indeed receive the state honour at Prague Castle on 28 October. The study explores the history of her collaboration with the StB.
