Instruments of cluster development support in Poland

Summary/Abstract: The main driver of cluster expansion is current market, however, the experience of many countries clearly shows that one of the most important factors that speed up and release scientist and economic potential of individual regions is appropriate cluster oriented policy provided by the government. This approach is leading to the increase of the level of innovations and competiveness on those areas. Taking all of this into consideration the European Commission recommends EU member states the implementation of policy based on clusters. The paper shows the problems connected with shaping cluster based policy in Poland as well as implementing those instruments so as to promote the development of cluster structures in the country. Special attention has been paid to different forms of cluster promotion within EU structural funds, because they are the main source of external founding of clusters in Poland.
