Summary/Abstract: Production of transport biofuels is one of the priorities in the EU policy. In Poland and worldwide a systematic increase in production of generation I liquid biofuels continues, although they are more expensive that crude-derivative fuels and strategic food raw materials are used for their production. Systematic increasing of the area under energetic crops is necessary to meet the targets of the EU energy policy. Polish agriculture is able to cover the increasing demand for agriculture energetic raw materials. The paper presents regulations resulting from the UE directive on promoting renewable energy use with particular focus on the regulations concerning the market of biofuels for transport. Additionally, the outline of the draft of changes to the domestic law concerning the system of support to energy from renewable sources is presented. The paper aims at presenting the current legal regulations concerning transport biofuels in Poland, defining the domestic demand for biocomponents and the possibilities of covering the demand for raw materials necessary for producing them.
