HEALTH BEHAVIOURS AND THE INTENSITY OF FACEBOOK USAGE AMONG STUDENTS

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the study was to analyze the intensity of Facebook usage in relation to declared health behaviors. Material and methods. The research was conducted on 226 students aged 19-24 years. A diagnostic survey method was used, using diagnostic scales: IZZ by Z. Juczyński and KIUF by J. Kuś and M. Szulżycki. Results. The results of the study show a low and average level of health behavior, while the average level of Facebook usage. There is also a negative correlation between the dimension - “Facebook as indispensable part of life” and global result and most of the dimensions of health behaviors (IZZ). Conclusions. 1. Students’ health behaviors are between average and low level and the average result of the KIUF indicates the average level of Facebook usage intensity. 2. Higher health behaviors are shown by people for whom Facebook is the most important.
