Summary/Abstract: Martha Nussbaum ponders in her article on the human attitude towards the values. Inspired by Sophocles’ Antigone she tries to analyse the conflict of two different moral codes – a conflict which emerged between Antigone and Creon. The author first analyses carefully Creon’s attitude and then Antigone’s one. Nussbaum comes to the conclusion that it is Antigone’s attitude that wins more recognition and that she is the one who better understands the needs of the community.
