Metropolitan Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni: the “complet portrait” of a providential personality

Summary/Abstract: The present dialogue revolves around the personality of Metropolitan Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni, to whom the establishment of the main ecclesiastical and cultural foundations in Chișinăau is due. In particular, the discussion concerns the procedure of exhumation and conservation of artifacts from the crypt of Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni, in order to make a complete portrait of the metropolitan, but also of his historical epoch. Involvement of experts from the T.A.B.O.R. Center in the process of saving the archaeological inventory identified at the opening of the crypt lasted between 2016–2018, at the request of prof. PhD Gh. Postică, Deputy Minister of Culture of the Republic of Moldova at that time. The purpose of the conversation is to capitalize on the personality of Gavriil Bănulescu-Bodoni, but also the results of the exhumation and conservation of the largest archaeological inventory in terms of the number of pieces extracted from a single rchaeological site. This treasure of cultural and spiritual goods is part of the national heritage.
