Bank union − in search of a new paradigmon the European banking market

Summary/Abstract: The project of bank union is part of the new architecture on the European banking market. It is spread over several stages major political project of strategic importance for the EU banking sector, based on the idea of greater integration and control of banks on the euro zone level. Though the need for the reconstruction of the existing model of banking supervision is not subject to a discussion, the extent of the common European surveillance and the postponement of work on the implementation of resolution mechanism and the deposit insurance system are controversial. In a global economy, banking union as a guarantor of a new institutional order should take into account the interests of all EU Member States, both in the creation of the new law and the impact on the strategic decision-making.
