Transactions in the flow of knowledgein the light of new institutional economics

Summary/Abstract: Recent history of economics has revealed several variations of existing economies. The current one can be called “the economy of man” or “the knowledge-based economy”. The scarcity of resources such as information and knowledge, combined with the uncertainty of doing business, all constitute the domains of modern economy. The purpose of this article is to analyze the phenomenon of knowledge transfer transactions in the context of theoretical considerations of the new institutional economics. The article identifies transaction costs that occur in the process of knowledge transfer, taking into account the contractual and agency theories.
