Summary/Abstract: The paper focuses on the basic interpretative strategies of the contemporary theatre; it outlines the current situation from the theoretical point of view and presents its form by using concrete drama texts. The paper interconnects the knowledge of the so-called Nitra school in literary science and aesthetics with the knowledge of this domain in the context of the theatre, thus contributing to the understanding of interpretative issues within the limits of postmodern aesthetics.
