Summary/Abstract: Attempts to use folk tradition in puppet theatre, which has always been a source of inspiration to it, evolved in Slovakia in stages and the process covered several decades. The author characterizes these attempts and focuses on the production of Košice Puppet Theatre, where Ádám Badin produced the play Košický Betlehem (Košice Bethlehem) in 2007, thus bringing to a close a trilogy inspired by folklore (Braček Jelenček – Stag, the Brother, 2003, Zlaté pierko – The Golden Feather, 2005).
